How a market resolves
  1. 1

    Trade

Buy and sell shares while the market is open. Prices show what the crowd expects.

  2. 2

    Close

Trading stops and the creator posts the result. A market that follows a source market settles exactly as its source does.

  3. 3

    Result posted

The result comes from the market's named source. A rarely used final review handles any problem before it becomes final.

  4. 4

    Settled

The result is finalised and every winning share pays out. Anything left unresolved is reviewed first.

How this market resolves

  • 1
    Resolution criteria

Resolves to the official outcome of this event: outcome 1 is "Yes" and outcome 2 is "No". Resolution: the outcome is the common consensus of major outlets reporting on this event. Outcome 1 ("Yes") resolves if the reported outcome is "Yes", and outcome 2 ("No") if it is "No". Trading closes Jan 1, 2027, 04:59 UTC. If that consensus is absent, ambiguous, or reports the event as void or 50/50, this market resolves VOID and stakes are returned. If no clean, final, undisputed outcome is available by this market's resolution deadline, the outcome is determined by Problee's community resolution process.Follows Polymarket ↗

    What decides this market?

Resolves Yes if any U.S. state enacts legislation by 2026-12-31 11:59 PM ET that creates a statewide moratorium. The moratorium must pause or prohibit approval, permitting, construction, grid connection or operation of new data centers, or a defined category of them. The bill must become law through the state's normal process: governor's signature, becoming law without signature, or a veto override. Vetoed bills don't qualify.

    What's happened lately?

2026-04-24: Maine Governor Mills vetoed LD 307, a one-year statewide data center moratorium that the legislature had passed. She cited the lack of an exemption for the Jay redevelopment project (Bloomberg Tax, Stateside, and law-firm summaries). I did not confirm whether an override was attempted. www.stateside.com

2026-06-13: Arizona Governor Hobbs signed an FY27 budget with a three-year moratorium on data center tax credits. This pauses incentives and is not a ban on building or operating data centers, so it likely does not fit the rule's definition (my reading). www.stateside.com · sustainablefutures.linklaters.com · www.bhfs.com

2026-07-14: New York Governor Hochul signed Executive Order No. 62. It pauses state environmental permits for one year for data centers drawing 50 MW or more. It is an executive order and not legislation, so it does not meet the rule's 'enacts legislation' wording on its face (my reading). www.stateside.com · sustainablefutures.linklaters.com · www.bhfs.com

    2026-10-08: 2026-07: 16 states had enacted at least one data-center-related bill in 2026, producing 30 laws, per a Debtwire/ACE-CNY summary. I did not find another enacted statewide legislative moratorium. www.stateside.com · sustainablefutures.linklaters.com · www.bhfs.com

    What would change it?

No specific date found. Most legislatures have adjourned, so a qualifying enactment would need a special session, a full-time legislature, or a New York bill.
